For students of all levels, Mary will guide students in color mixing, drawing, composition, getting a likeness and creating dynamic works as well as offer tips on marketing and the business side to being an artist. Each day will start with a painting demonstration, then the students will paint alongside Mary as she offers one-on-one assistance and encouragement.

You will have 3 hours on Capri to explore and have lunch. We will have a 3 hour class on Capri. Mary will demonstrate for about an hour and then you will have 2 hours to paint. A resident of Johns Island, South Carolina, Whyte garners much of her inspiration from the Gullah descendants of coastal Carolina slaves who number among her most prominent subjects.
Four additional museums signed on to exhibit the large-scale, sensitively rendered watercolors depicting blue-collar workers in industries vanishing throughout the south. Her book, Working South, re f erences each painting and sketch with background stories of the Southern people and places beautifully portrayed within the exhibition. Down Bohicket Road, released November , is her comprehensive book of paintings completed over a twenty- year period on Johns Island.
